Line & structure
Finding the shape
A close look at where rooflines meet, overlap and begin to describe depth. The structure arrives before the detail.
Working pages · close studies
A place for the marks before they become a finished piece — studies, details and the bits that are usually left on the desk.
No. 01
The first selection looks closely at marks from drawings already in the collection. New roughs and works in progress can join them here over time.

Line & structure
A close look at where rooflines meet, overlap and begin to describe depth. The structure arrives before the detail.

Density & rhythm
Signs, cables and windows gather into a dense field of marks. Small patches of open paper give the drawing room to breathe.

Restraint
Fewer marks can carry more distance. The mountain is held by a light horizon and the quiet paper around it.
Fragments
Details behave differently when they are taken out of the whole.

Next page
This sketchbook will grow with pencil tests, abandoned compositions and drawings in progress. For now, continue through Louis’s finished work.
